FAQ's of Devel Attrition Tester:
Q: How do I operate the Devel Attrition Tester for aggregate testing?
A: Place up to four specimens, each measuring 50 mm x 25 mm, and a sample load of 500-1000 grams into the drum. Set the required cycles on the digital timer and close the lid. Start the machine, and it will rotate at 100 rpm for the preset duration. Results are displayed instantly on the digital counter upon completion.
Q: What is the main benefit of using this attrition tester in the laboratory?
A: This tester provides highly accurate and repeatable measurements of aggregate abrasion and attrition, helping determine material suitability for construction projects. Its compliance with IS:2386 (Part IV) standards ensures recognized and comparable results.
Q: When is it necessary to perform aggregate attrition testing?
A: Aggregate attrition testing is recommended during quality control of construction materials, before commencing large-scale building projects, or when verifying that supplied aggregates meet required durability standards.
Q: Where can the Devel Attrition Tester be installed in a laboratory?
A: Thanks to its floor-mount design and compact build (max height 400 mm), the tester can be placed on any stable laboratory floor, provided there is access to a 230V AC, 50 Hz power supply and appropriate ventilation.
Q: What steps are involved in the aggregate abrasion and attrition testing process?
A: First, prepare aggregate specimens and load them as directed. Set test parameters such as number of cycles (up to 100) on the digital timer. Begin testing; the machine will rotate the drum. Results are displayed on the digital counter for immediate analysis.
Q: What safety features are included in this equipment?
A: The tester is equipped with overload protection, ensuring safety for operators and stable functioning during extended testing periods. Its heavy-duty construction and low noise level further enhance operational safety and comfort.
Q: How does the digital counter improve testing accuracy?
A: The digital counter records every cycle with 1 cycle accuracy and 1 cycle resolution, providing clear, instant, and reliable results. This eliminates guesswork and manual counting, ensuring precise data recording for quality assessments.
