The apparatus consist of a pin type fin heated by a band heater at one end. It consists of a channel in which the pin fin is tested in both natural as well as forced convection. A centrifugal blower draws air over the fin. The blower is operated to touch the pin fin in forced convection only Thermocouples are attached along the length of fin to note down the longitudinal temperature gradient.
